Laphroaig Quarter Cask Single Malt

Laphroaig attempt at wrangling the Islay peat here with quarter casks, a smaller sized barrel.  With more surface area for the whisky to interact with, the vanilla flavors and tannins infuse themselves quicker and more intensely. The smoke and peat definitely are still there but with more bourbon-y similarities.  It’s doubtful Laphroaig would ever make something considered mellow, this is one notch down in intensity from their flagship whisky.
